State Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and Michael Rogers, Director of Community Relations for State Senator Tom O’Mara, visited Dundee Junior-Senior High School to honor Peyton Mullin. Mullin recently won her second consecutive state title in the 235-pound weight class at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls Invitational State Championship on February 25, 2025.
Mullin achieved an undefeated season with a record of 27-0. The visit included presenting an official Legislative Resolution (J1068/K594) sponsored by Palmesano and O’Mara, acknowledging Mullin’s championship.
Mullin began wrestling at age four and has accumulated over 150 career wins. She is also a two-time New York Wrestling Association for Youth state champion and excels in track and field, having won a Section V shot put championship.
In a joint statement, O’Mara and Palmesano said, “We always welcome and look forward to these opportunities to pay tribute to dedication, excellence, hard work, and success throughout our school communities. Peyton Mullin continued her remarkable run of state championships this season. She’s an incredible student-athlete who keeps building a dominant wrestling career with her sight set on the Olympics.”
The resolution emphasizes that “excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved only through strenuous practice,” highlighting the importance of athletic competition in developing young people.
Dundee School Superintendent Chris Wood remarked that Mullin “exemplifies the epitome of a student-athlete,” balancing academics with athletics as a two-time state champion in girls’ wrestling.
Athletic Director Scott Shepardson noted that Mullin is “a well-rounded athlete who not only excels in wrestling but also in the classroom.”
