Of the 27,402 people living in Elmira in 2019, 50.6 percent (13,877) were women and 49.4 percent (13,525) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the SC New York News.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by a ratio of 9,083-to-8,109. In the 65 and over age range, there were 2,235 females and 1,260 males.
