Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy announced that Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. has been awarded a grant of $6,767,042 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Head Start Projects.
“I am proud to support the over $6.7 million from HHS for Head Start Projects in Chautauqua,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Head Start programming is essential to families in our community and this funding will ensure children have the best opportunity to learn and be nurtured. I am excited to see this program flourish with this federal assistance.”
Head Start operates on the premise that all children share certain needs and that children from income-eligible families can benefit from a comprehensive developmental program designed to meet those needs. The program emphasizes maximizing the strengths and unique experiences of each child while involving the family, which is seen as the principal influence on a child’s development, as a direct participant.
