Chemung County is seeking public participation in the development of its Resilience Plan, which aims to prepare for future challenges and invest in the community’s long-term well-being. The County Planning Department is leading this initiative, focusing on issues such as increased flooding, aging infrastructure, and pressures on public services.
A community meeting will be held on September 16 at Meals on Wheels, located at 409 William St, Elmira. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to share their input on focus areas and proposed measures for the draft plan. Light refreshments will be available.
“Chemung County is renowned for its strong communities, deep roots, and spirit of collaboration. As we face evolving challenges, such as increased flooding, aging infrastructure, and pressure on public services, we have an opportunity to plan thoughtfully and collaborate,” said Chemung County Executive Christopher J. Moss.
The county emphasizes that broad community engagement is essential to shaping a more resilient and vibrant future for residents.
