Chemung County’s Health Department Certified Home Health Agency has consistently received the highest ratings among home health care providers in the county, according to recent data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The agency’s performance is measured through CMS’s “Star” system, which evaluates both quality of patient care and patient experience. Ratings range from zero to five stars, with five being the highest.

Since 2018, Chemung County’s agency has outperformed other local certified agencies. For quality of patient care, it averaged 4.6 out of 5 stars between 2018 and the second quarter of 2025. Other local agencies scored between 3.5 and 4.1 stars during the same period. In terms of patient experience, Chemung County’s agency also averaged 4.6 stars, while others ranged from 4.0 to 4.2 stars.

This information is based on CMS data available at https://www.cms.gov/medicare/quality/home-health/archives.

“This data shows the high level of care provided by the Health Department. This data also indicates that this high level of care is consistently delivered over a long period of time,” said Christopher J. Moss, Chemung County Executive.
