Expectant mothers, new parents, and community members are invited to the 6th Annual Chenango County Community Baby Shower and Pre-Mother’s Day Celebration. The event will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Main Lobby of UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.

The celebration is free and includes family-friendly activities, guided tours of the hospital’s maternity floor, educational sessions, and a raffle with prizes. The event is organized by Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network in collaboration with Chenango County Public Health, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, UHS Women’s Health Norwich, Chenango Healthy Families, and CAPCO Chenango County WIC.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with local resources, meet our care team, and get excited about the journey of parenthood,” said Katie Olson, Development and Engagement Specialist at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital. “We’re especially excited for this year’s event because it’s the first time we’re hosting it here at Chenango Memorial.”

Hospital staff will conduct guided tours of the maternity unit to offer insight into the care environment available for new and expectant mothers. Two educational sessions led by area healthcare professionals will focus on maternal wellness and pediatric care.

Over a dozen community organizations will be present with informational booths and support services for families and caregivers. Agencies participating include Building Healthy Families, the Chenango Child Advocacy Center, Fidelis Care, Family Enrichment Network, and Upstate NY Poison Control.

“We’re proud to host so many dedicated organizations that share our mission of supporting the well-being and health of our community,” Olson stated. “Our goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive space where families can find guidance, encouragement and support every step of the way — and have some fun too.”

Light refreshments will be served during the event along with a photo booth for guests to capture memories from the day. All activities are open to the public without charge.

The event venue is UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital located at 179 North Broad Street in Norwich.
