In-state tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at Binghamton University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $9,853 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $330 more than the $9,523 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 170.5 percent more than residents this year, or $26,648. Their price tag grew 9.2 percent from $24,403 in 2017-18.

About 87 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are New York residents. About 7 percent are residents of other states and 6 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 75 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,456 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.6 million and 1,357 students took out student loans totaling more than $9.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (17,768), 7,253 students used grants or scholarships totaling $63 million, and 6,164 students took out $42 million in federal student loans.
