In-state tuition and fees rose 2.8 percent for 2018-19 at SUNY Cortland, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $8,536 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $236 more than the $8,300 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 114.6 percent more than residents this year, or $18,316. Their price tag grew 2 percent from $17,950 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are New York residents. And about 4 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 810 students received grants or scholarships totaling $6.7 million and 904 students took out student loans totaling more than $6.7 million.

Including all undergraduates (6,858), 3,961 students used grants or scholarships totaling $28.8 million, and 4,291 students took out $27.8 million in federal student loans.
