Guthrie Vestal Hospice has received the highest recognition from the national We Honor Veterans program for a second year in a row. The Level 5 status is the top honor given by the initiative, which is managed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization together with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
According to Guthrie Vestal Hospice, this renewed Level 5 certification shows their ongoing commitment to specialized care for military veterans. To qualify for this status, organizations must show excellence in personalized care, community outreach, and ongoing improvements that are specifically designed for veterans.
As part of its efforts to maintain this distinction, Guthrie Vestal Hospice uses advanced clinical screening protocols developed for veterans. The hospice also runs veteran-to-veteran volunteer programs and takes part in community events that honor those who have served in the military.
The We Honor Veterans program helps hospice providers understand and address the unique emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of veterans as they face serious illness—needs that often stem from their military service.
“This recertification ensures that veterans and their families continue to receive care with the dignity, respect and specialized clinical expertise they deserve,” according to Guthrie Vestal Hospice.
