Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy announced a significant grant of $2,698,394 awarded to Allegany County Community Opportunities and Rural Development by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This funding is designated for Head Start Projects in Allegany County.
Congressman Langworthy expressed his support for the initiative: “I am proud to support the over $2.6 million from HHS for Head Start projects in Allegany,” he stated. “Head Start programming is essential to families in our community and this funding will ensure children have the best opportunity to learn and be nurtured. I am excited to see this program in Allegany flourish with this federal assistance.”
The Head Start program operates on the belief that all children have certain needs and that those from income-eligible families can gain from a comprehensive developmental approach. The program aims to leverage each child’s strengths and unique experiences while involving families as direct participants due to their principal influence on child development.
