Congressman Nick Langworthy attended a recent work session with the Lockport Town Board, joining Supervisor Mark Crocker and board members to discuss state policies affecting the community. The main topics were New York State’s ban on natural gas and propane in new home construction and state wetland regulations that impact local development.
Langworthy spoke about his proposed Energy Choice Act, which aims to repeal Governor Kathy Hochul’s restrictions on natural gas and propane for new homes. He argued that these bans limit options for families and increase costs.
“I was honored to join the Lockport Town Board to talk about the issues that directly impact our community,” said Congressman Langworthy. “I outlined how my Energy Choice Act will put an end to Governor Hochul’s reckless and costly bans on natural gas and propane, restoring choice and affordability for families. It was clear in our conversation that there is strong agreement these mandates from Albany are out of touch and must be stopped. I want to thank Supervisor Mark Crocker and the entire board for inviting me to be part of this important discussion.”
The session also addressed concerns over state wetland regulations, which some local officials say make it harder for communities like Lockport to pursue development projects.
