On July 9, six-time Major Champion and World Golf Hall of Famer Lee Trevino visited UHS Wilson Medical Center. He toured the new Wilson Main Tower before his presentation at the UHS Health Expo at the DICK’S Open.
Trevino, accompanied by his son Daniel, was welcomed by UHS staff in the Wilson Main Tower lobby. The tour began on the second floor, where Trevino was photographed with a plaque dedicated to Alex Alexander. Alexander is recognized for bringing significant golf tournaments to Greater Binghamton through Broome County Community Charities. Trevino shared memories of his participation in the B.C. Open tournament.
On the third floor, Dr. Kate Foxx and Dr. Kenneth Foxx from UHS Neurosurgery discussed with Trevino his past experiences of being struck by lightning and subsequent medical procedures he underwent, highlighting advancements in medicine since then.
The tour also included a visit to the Emergency Department and the expanded Decker Emergency Room set to open on July 17. The group concluded their visit at the helipad, enjoying views of Broome County.
During his visit, Trevino expressed admiration for the hospital’s innovative features and amenities available for patients and staff. He noted how much he would have appreciated such accommodations during his own hospital stays.
UHS extended its gratitude to Trevino for visiting Wilson Main Tower and participating in the UHS Health Expo, acknowledging it as a privilege to host such a legendary figure in golf within their community.
