Leslie Church has been a resident of Yates County for 26 years, dedicating her life to public service and community development. Her diverse background in sales, real estate, and aviation has allowed her to significantly impact the community.
Church’s public service career began in 2000 with her appointment to the Town of Milo Planning Board, leading to her election to the Town Board. In 2011, she became the first female Town of Milo Supervisor and was elected to the Yates County Legislature. Her leadership led to historic milestones as she became the first woman Vice Chair of the Yates County Legislature in 2020 and later its first female Chair in 2022.
In addition to her leadership roles, Church chairs the Keuka Watershed Intermunicipal Cooperative and serves as Vice Chair of the Keuka Outlet Compact, both dedicated to protecting Keuka Lake. As a legislator, she has contributed to various committees focused on youth services, rural health networks, public safety, and human services.
Beyond elected office, Church is involved with Cornell Cooperative Extension as a Master Gardener and advocates for multiple sclerosis awareness through Teva Neuroscience. In 2011, she was honored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as an Inspirational Woman on the Move.
