Assemblyman Phil Palmesano has released his “May Grant Action News Update” to inform residents, organizations, and local governments about available grants from state, federal, and private sources. The Assembly updates this list monthly, covering a variety of categories.

Palmesano emphasized the importance of these grants in aiding economic recovery. “During a time of economic recovery, grants can play an integral part in helping our local communities complete needed infrastructure repairs or support underfunded projects,” he stated. He noted that many people are unaware of the opportunities available due to not knowing where to look. “The ‘Grants Action News’ bulletin makes finding these grants much easier by consolidating the information and making it available to everyone,” he added.

He hopes that those in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions will utilize this resource for community strengthening. All not-for-profit applicants must pre-qualify on the NYS Grants Reform website at grantsreform.ny.gov/grantees before applying for certain New York state grant solicitations. It is recommended that potential applicants begin this process immediately due to its length.

The Grant Action News bulletin is updated monthly with new grant information and application details. The update is accessible at https://nyassembly.gov/gan/?sec=story&story=113833.

Among the featured opportunities is funding from the NYS Department of Health aimed at expanding harm reduction services for priority populations who use drugs. This funding targets adolescents (12-17), young adults (18-24), and veterans vulnerable to overdose and historically marginalized by care systems.
