Assemblyman Phil Palmesano has released the “July Grant Action News Update,” providing information on various grants available from state, federal, and private sources. This monthly bulletin is designed to help residents, organizations, and local governments identify funding opportunities for infrastructure repairs and underfunded projects.
Palmesano emphasized the importance of these grants during economic recovery. “During a time of economic recovery, grants can play an integral part in helping our local communities complete needed infrastructure repairs or support underfunded projects,” he said. He highlighted that many people are unaware of available opportunities because they don’t know where to look. The bulletin aims to consolidate this information and make it accessible.
The update includes several state grants such as the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services’ Transformative Youth Justice Hubs, with $4 million available for supporting youth justice prevention efforts in New York State. Another opportunity is through the NYS Dept. of Economic Development’s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative with approximately $460 million in funding for high-impact regional initiatives.
Federal grants listed include the US National Science Foundation’s Research Traineeship Program aimed at developing STEM skills among graduate students, with a total program funding estimated at $3 million.
Private grant opportunities include Carequest Grants for Oral Health and Clif Family Foundation Grants supporting regenerative farming practices and climate justice initiatives.
Scholarships are also highlighted, including Our Family Cares Post-Secondary School Scholarships offering $5,000 awards to eligible applicants pursuing education across America’s Heartland.
