Scott M. Ward, a native of Steuben County, New York, has had a distinguished career in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Commissioned through the ROTC program at Cornell University in 1988, Ward served in various roles including Infantry Platoon Leader and Light Armored Cavalry Troop Commander.
Ward’s first combat deployment was as a Senior Military Advisor with a Military Transition Team in Fallujah, Iraq from 2004 to 2005. After his service in Iraq, he returned to the U.S. and took on the role of Battalion Executive Officer at Fort Dix, New Jersey. There, he oversaw training for over 4,500 soldiers preparing for mobilization to Iraq and Afghanistan.
From 2009 to 2012, Ward was Installation Mobilization Officer at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He also served as Deputy Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security before being recruited as Officer in Charge of the South Carolina Agribusiness Development Team in Afghanistan in 2013.
Ward has been recognized with several military awards such as the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge among others.
Upon returning to Steuben County, Ward continued his service by engaging with local organizations including the Bath Central School Board and Steuben County Farm Bureau. He is also involved with agriculture education and serves on Congressman Nick Langworthy’s Agriculture Advisory Committee.
Ward resides with his wife Kari and their three children on Windydale Farm in Avoca, New York.
