WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) voiced his support for the Laken Riley Act on the House Floor, emphasizing the urgency of addressing border security and immigration policies.

In his address, Congressman Langworthy expressed, "The American people are sick and tired of the new status quo at our nation’s borders." He criticized the current administration for failing to address the crisis that is impacting communities across the country.

Referencing a tragic incident involving Laken Riley in Georgia, Congressman Langworthy highlighted the consequences of lax immigration enforcement. He stated, "Jose Ibarra entered the United States illegally thanks to President Biden’s refusal to uphold our laws and secure our border."

The Congressman condemned the release of violent offenders due to flawed policies, stating, "After being arrested in New York City for child endangerment, Jose Ibarra was released back on the streets. Why? Because, once again, the policies of the left."

Expressing his support for the Laken Riley Act, Congressman Langworthy asserted, "I strongly support H.R. 7511, the Laken Riley Act and am a proud cosponsor because enough is enough, Mr. Speaker." He emphasized the need for real solutions to enhance border security and uphold immigration laws.

In conclusion, Congressman Langworthy urged his colleagues to recognize the severity of the crisis and support the Laken Riley Act, stating, "I strongly support the passage of the rule today and urge my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to wake up to this crisis, see the suffering that citizens and non-citizens alike have endured, and support H.R. 7511, the Laken Riley Act."

The Congressman's impassioned plea reflects the ongoing debate surrounding immigration policies and the need for bipartisan action to address border security concerns.
