Binghamton, NY – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today revealed that the Greater Binghamton Airport is set to benefit from an additional $3,000,000 in federal funding earmarked for airport terminal upgrades. This funding comes as an addition to the $7,000,000 announced for upgrades last year.

The funding has been made available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Airport Terminal Program, overseen by the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, on which Rep. Molinaro serves. The allocated funds will facilitate various enhancements at the airport, including the expansion of the passenger hold room, replacement of aging heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with reliable and energy-efficient units, installation of two new passenger boarding bridges, and expansion of the exterior canopy.

Expressing his satisfaction with the funding allocation, Rep. Molinaro stated, "These funds will allow Binghamton Airport to complete construction and renovations. I'm proud to secure this crucial funding so passengers enjoy their experience, and the airport can continue upgrading its systems."

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar highlighted the significance of the funding award, emphasizing, “The award of these funds shows our strong partnership with our state and federal officials. It puts on full display the importance and impact of this project in our community.”

Mark Heefner, the Commissioner of Aviation at Greater Binghamton Airport, expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of utilizing the competitive funds, affirming, “We are thrilled to receive these competitive funds. BGM and Broome County has a proven track record of putting these funds to good use with high return on investment. These funds are critical to providing our community with services for years to come.”
