Congressman Nick Langworthy announced the allocation of two federal grants totaling $44,175 to the Seneca Nation of Indians through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The funding is intended to enhance and sustain core library services within the Seneca Nation’s communities.

“I’m pleased to announce this federal investment in the Seneca Nation’s libraries to expand learning opportunities and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Seneca people,” said Congressman Langworthy. “These grants go beyond education to help preserve the rich history of the Seneca people, which is vital to the history of our region. It’s great to see federal resources put to good use for generations to come right here in our district.”

Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr., President of the Seneca Nation of Indians, commented on the importance of these funds: “Providing our people, particularly our youngest generations, a strong educational foundation is paramount for their long-term growth and achievement. Through these Institute of Museum and Library Services grant funds, the Seneca Nation will strengthen our on-territory libraries, provide them additional resources, and enable them to expand educational opportunities for the Seneca people that will help deepen their connection with our culture and help provide our youth positive educational experiences. We are grateful for Congressman Langworthy's support of these vital initiatives."

According to IMLS, these grants aim to assist Native American tribes in improving core library services for their communities. This reflects federal goals such as championing lifelong learning, strengthening community engagement, and advancing collections stewardship.
