Team UHS demonstrated significant support for the American Heart Association (AHA) by participating in the 2025 Southern Tier Heart Walk on Sunday, April 27. The event attracted hundreds of community members to the Oakdale Commons in Johnson City.
Activities commenced with an opening ceremony at 9:30 am, setting the stage for a day filled with various offerings, including blood pressure screenings, wellness demonstrations, and survivor celebrations. Entertainment was provided for all age groups. Participants can still submit their donations via www.SouthernTierHeartWalk.org.
The AHA expressed gratitude to all sponsors and participants who contributed to their mission of promoting longer, healthier lives. “The AHA thanked the sponsors, teams and individuals who have helped the American Heart Association be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives,” the statement read.
Over the past 30 years, the Southern Tier Heart Walk has raised more than $5 million, supporting lifesaving research, education, and advocacy programs. The Southern Tier Heart Walk is central to the Heart Challenge program, which aims to improve employee health and wellbeing through company participation.
Funds raised from the Heart Walk support research, advocacy, CPR training, and health promotion. These efforts align with the AHA’s 2025 Health Equity Impact Goal, which seeks to eliminate barriers to healthcare access and quality.
