UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s multi-specialty practice in Sidney is set to receive infrastructure improvements following the allocation of federal funds. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand secured $667,500 through the 2026 federal budget for the facility on Pearl Street. The funding will be used to replace the building’s roof, windows, and doors, with the aim of improving safety, comfort, and energy efficiency for patients and families at the Sidney health center.

The hospital acquired the property at 44 Pearl Street in 2010 to serve residents from eastern Chenango as well as western Delaware and Otsego counties. Over the past fifteen years, more than $1.8 million has been invested to expand available services at this location. These now include primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, orthopedics, cardiology, general surgery, laboratory services, and diagnostic imaging such as 3D mammography.

The recent federal grant will cover about three-quarters of the project’s estimated $890,000 total cost. This initiative is among fifteen projects in New York State chosen for support under the FY 2026 Agriculture–Rural Development and Military Construction–Veterans Affairs funding bills.

Construction work on these upgrades is expected to begin in 2026.
