A groundbreaking ceremony was held at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital on October 22 to mark the start of its Medical Neighborhood project. The event brought together community members, healthcare workers, and local officials to launch a major expansion designed to improve access to integrated and patient-focused care in the region.
During the ceremony, hospital leaders highlighted the impact of the new initiative. Rolland “Boomer” Bojo, President and CEO of UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, said, “This transformative investment will ensure that generations to come will have access to the highest quality of care close to home.” John Carrigg, President and CEO of UHS, added, “Healthcare is rapidly advancing, and having a modern facility that keeps pace with those advancements will go a long to improving the critical metrics like patient safety and quality – enhancing the overall patient experience.”
The four-story addition planned for the hospital will bring together several services under one roof. These include primary medical care, specialty services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, laboratory testing, blood draw services, as well as building services and support functions.
According to hospital representatives, the goal is to encourage collaboration among healthcare providers and make it easier for patients across Delaware County and nearby areas to receive coordinated care. The project has received a $20 million grant from the New York State Department of Health’s Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2027.
