UHS has announced its participation in the Respect and Heal Initiative, a campaign that unites healthcare leaders across New York State to foster mutual respect and healing in clinical settings. This partnership highlights UHS’s commitment to safeguarding frontline healthcare employees and their patients.
The initiative involves collaboration with healthcare systems, law enforcement agencies, and public policy experts to address harassment and violence in healthcare environments. A press conference marked the launch of this initiative, featuring Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti and representatives from state and local law enforcement agencies.
In recent years, UHS has implemented measures such as security scanning, visitor management check-ins, and Peer to Peer debriefing for staff affected by workplace violence. These steps underscore UHS’s dedication to ensuring safety for healthcare workers and patients while providing compassionate care.
UHS aims to lead meaningful change alongside community allies through the Respect and Heal initiative, ensuring that healthcare settings remain safe and respectful places of healing.
