Three nurses from UHS were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the nursing profession at an annual event held on May 8, 2025. The Professional Nurses Association of South Central New York (PNASCNY) hosted its 40th annual Nurses Day Breakfast in Binghamton, where UHS registered nurses Mark Rando, Praescilla Daquin, and Dawn Wage received special honors.
The PNASCNY annually acknowledges the dedication and achievements of local registered nurses by presenting awards to those who have demonstrated excellence in their field. At this year’s event, several awards were given to RNs affiliated with UHS Hospitals.
Mark Rando was honored with the Nursing Practice Award. This accolade is presented to a nurse who exhibits outstanding performance in nursing practice, highlighting the critical role that nurses play in healthcare within the community.
Praescilla Daquin received the Aspiring Professional Nurse Award. This award is designated for a nurse in their first two years of practice who has shown mastery of knowledge and skills in the field. The recipient is recognized as a change agent who seeks to advance the nursing profession through innovative ideas.
Dawn Wage was awarded the Nurse Advocacy Award. This recognition is given to a nurse who actively advocates for healthcare improvements. According to the American Nurses Association, advocacy is considered a fundamental aspect of nursing.
The breakfast also served as an opportunity for regional nurses to network and celebrate their shared commitment to their profession.
