On November 20, UHS received a national award for excellence in supply chain practices from ECRI, a nonprofit organization focused on patient safety. UHS was among 12 healthcare organizations across the United States to be recognized.
This marks the fourth time in six years that UHS has earned this distinction. The achievement reflects ongoing collaboration among team members throughout the system.
“This award is a powerful affirmation of the discipline and innovation our team brings to supply chain operations every day,” said Blaine Olmsted, BS, RRT, PMP, senior director of UHS Supply Chain Operations. “Through our partnership with ECRI, we’ve streamlined workflows, improved financial performance, and empowered clinicians with data-driven insights that elevate patient care—all while keeping patient needs at the center of every decision. I’m honored to see our team’s commitment to excellence recognized on a national level.”
The Healthcare Supply Chain Achievement Award honors organizations for exemplary use of services throughout the procurement lifecycle. This includes budgeting, benchmarking, technology assessment and strategic development. As part of its selection process, ECRI reviewed candidates’ 2025 spend management and market analytics efforts for capital medical devices, supplies, physician preference items, service contracts and reagents.
ECRI’s strategic sourcing and supply chain programs include more than 4,000 hospitals and health systems in the United States. Over the past year alone, ECRI has analyzed nearly $86 billion in supply and capital spending. Their technology decision support solutions are designed to help healthcare organizations reduce clinical spending and improve patient outcomes.
