UHS, committed to addressing the unique needs of elderly patients, has been recognized for its efforts in providing care to older adults. The institution has received a “Senior-Friendly” designation from Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) for the third consecutive year. This honor reflects UHS’s success in implementing high-quality initiatives aimed at improving the care system-wide for older adults.

NICHE, a national nurse-driven program, endorses hospitals that demonstrate excellence in caring for patients aged 65 and older. As part of this collaboration with NICHE, UHS nurses are provided with specialized training in geriatric care.

This recognition highlights UHS’s dedication to ensuring that receiving healthcare in hospital settings is as stress-free as possible for senior patients and their families. More details about NICHE can be found at the organization’s website, nicheprogram.org.
