A nursing assistant at UHS has been recognized for her dedication to patient care. Jossy Abraham was named the September winner of the Sunshine Award, an honor given each month to a non-licensed nursing support staff member who demonstrates exceptional service.

Abraham was nominated by a colleague who praised her compassion and willingness to help others. In the nomination letter, the colleague wrote: “Jossy is always the first person to lend a helping hand. I know that when I am working with Jossy, I have the support that I need as a nurse. She is compassionate about the care she gives her patients. She always makes everyone feel comfortable and well cared for.”

As part of the recognition, Abraham received a bouquet of sunflowers and enjoyed cookies during a celebration.

The Sunshine Award program allows patients, families, and colleagues to nominate non-licensed support staff based on UHS Values such as Respect, Teamwork, Innovation, Trust, and Compassion. Nominations can be submitted at kiosks or boxes located throughout UHS facilities or sent via email to sunshine.awards@nyuhs.org.

While all nominees are acknowledged for their efforts, one recipient is selected each month for special recognition.
