Maine-Endwell School District issued the following announcement on Nov 22.
Being able to adapt to this unprecedented time in education is necessary for teachers to ensure their students’ success. November’s Maine-Endwell Teachers Association (META) Teacher of the Month, Jim Tokos, does just that.
Mr. Tokos makes sure the needs of all of his students are met, by being creative and prepared, said fellow teacher Heather Chidester, who nominated him for the recognition.
“He has personally purchased and packaged materials for all students, including his fully remote students, that allow them to engage in hands-on learning,” Mrs. Chidester said. “He has also prepared materials for the future that would allow him to maintain instruction in the event of closure.”
She adds, “Mr. Tokos truly cares about the needs of his students and goes beyond expectations to make sure those needs are met.”
Each month (META) honors excellence in teaching within our district with the Teacher of the Month award. The award is given to a staff member who demonstrates the following leadership qualities: professionalism and excellence in and out of the classroom; commitment to the well-being of students; high ethical standards; and civic and charitable stewardship. Award winners will be nominated by their peers.
Congratulations Mr. Tokos!
