Chemung County Health Department - Protect Your Child From RSV!

Protect your child from RSV by following these guidelines and knowing the signs and symptoms. Symptoms of RSV in infants and babies include runny nose, decrease in appetite, cough, wheezing, difficulty breathing, irritability, and apnea (pauses in breathing more than 10 seconds). RSV can become a very serious illness for some infants. Call your healthcare provider if you or your child is having difficulty breathing, not drinking enough fluids, or experiencing worsening symptoms. There is no vaccine to prevent RSV infection, so follow these guidelines to prevent infection and know the signs and symptoms. Although it is hard, do not kiss infants or babies especially on the face or hands. Visit https://www.cdc.gov/rsv/index.html for more information.
