Senator O'Mara honors Bath-Haverling girls soccer champions

State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning) visited Bath-Haverling High School today to honor the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, which secured the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class B championship last fall.

O’Mara and Palmesano joined athletes, coaches, school administrators, and staff for a ceremony to present an official Legislative Resolution they sponsored. This resolution, approved by the state Senate and Assembly, celebrated the team’s victory in the Class B Girls Soccer championship on November 12, 2023, at Cortland High School. The team triumphed over Babylon with a score of 1-0 in the title game.

In a joint statement, O’Mara and Palmesano said, “Bath-Haverling High School has a proud history of athletic excellence, competition, and achievement. We appreciate this opportunity to congratulate and pay tribute to the Girls Varsity Soccer team and its first-ever state championship. It’s an opportunity to recognize and honor the dedication, excellence, hard work, and success of these remarkable student-athletes who help our school communities stand out. They represent inspiring stories and stand as a source of enormous pride to the entire Bath Central School District, as well as to their families and friends, the community at large, and our entire region.”

The resolution acknowledges Head Coach Braedyn Northrup, Assistant Coach Mike Clancy, JV Coach Adam Deats, JV Assistant Coach Kailey McLean, along with team members Riley Beaty, Zoey Winfield, Emmalyn Lafler, Lola Coots, Katelynn Dubois, Leah Krelie, Triesta Sprague, Jenna Thorp, Madison Thorp; BreeAnn Walruth; Ainsley Beaty; Lydia Dickson; Braydyn Gerrity; Emma Luckenbach; Skylar Lyke; Abigail Rodbourn; Keegan Smith; Ella Yartym; Aleah Binkowski; Gracelyn Wheeler; Sierra Haight; Emma Scheider; Makayla Smith; Contessa Vanskiver; Maliyah Buckle.

The resolution states: “Proudly donning the school’s colors of blue and white, family friends and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Rams throughout their journey as they ended their season with an impressive 21-1-0 overall record.”

Bath CSD Superintendent Kelly Houck remarked: “As Superintendent of the Bath Central School District watching our girl’s soccer team capture the New York State Championship was not just a victory for the team our school and community it's a true example of teamwork perseverance and unwavering determination. Their success on the field demonstrates the potential that lies within each one of our Bath CSD students that with hard work anything is possible. Congratulations to our New York State Champions!”

Athletic Director Shawn Wheeler commented: “This State Championship is a reflection of incredible spirit dedication of our Girl's Varsity Soccer Team we were so proud have them represent our school community on field.”

Head Coach Braedyn Northrup expressed: “I have never been more proud of group athletes work these girls put achieve this didn’t start August began many them 4 or 5 years old many can only dream winning State Title while this group showed young student athletes watching them exactly what it takes bring one home.”
