Assemblyman Joseph Angelino has responded to the announcement of the Volunteer Fire Infrastructure & Response Equipment (V-FIRE) Grant Program by the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services. The program, which is state-funded with a budget of $25 million, aims to support volunteer fire departments.

“The 121st Assembly District has approximately 60 fire departments, all are volunteer except one. I have visited nearly every one of these volunteer departments, and they all have similar issues; funding, personnel, facilities and equipment," Angelino stated. He encouraged all volunteer departments to consider applying for the grant.

Angelino emphasized the importance of meeting the application deadline: “There is a DEADLINE of Tuesday, April 30, 2024, by 5 p.m. to have your paperwork received by DHSES.”
