In response to the recently proposed executive budget, concerns have been raised regarding its sustainability and fiscal responsibility.

"At a time when New York is staring down what can only be described as a fiscal cliff, the fact Gov. Hochul is proposing the largest budget in the history of the state is thoroughly irresponsible," stated Angelino. He emphasized that Blake Washington, Governor Hochul's budget director, has acknowledged parts of the budget are not sustainable, particularly referencing the nearly $2 billion recommended for migrant spending.

Angelino also expressed apprehension about potential changes to "hold harmless" agreements with school districts. These agreements ensure that a district's state aid will not be reduced. He highlighted that while local governments and school districts must adhere to a 2% tax cap, "the state blows right past that every year."

"We owe it to the people of New York to be fiscally responsible and work toward a balanced budget, not a progressive spending spree," Angelino asserted. He affirmed his commitment to working towards fiscal responsibility and looks forward to addressing these issues during the upcoming budget debate and negotiation period.
