Assemblyman Phil Palmesano has announced the release of the "December Grant Action News Update," a resource aimed at informing residents, organizations, and local governments about available grants from state, federal, and private entities. The monthly bulletin is designed to consolidate information on grant opportunities across various categories.
"During a time of economic recovery, grants can play an integral part in helping our local communities complete needed infrastructure repairs or support underfunded projects," said Palmesano. He emphasized that many people are unaware of the range of available opportunities due to uncertainty about where to find them. The "Grants Action News" aims to address this by making such information more accessible.
The bulletin is updated at the beginning of each month with new grant listings and application instructions. It can be accessed online for those interested in exploring these funding options.
Not-for-profit applicants seeking certain New York state grants must pre-qualify through the NYS Grants Reform website. The process is detailed but essential for eligibility.
The update lists several state grants such as the Regional School Food Infrastructure Grant Program from the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, aimed at using fresh farm products in school meals; Community Growers Grants supporting nutrition education in SNAP-eligible communities; and Hudson River Tributary Restoration funding from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation for estuary conservation projects.
Additionally, federal grants like HUD's Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP) and DHS's Assistance to Firefighters Grants are highlighted. Private grants include awards from the Helen Diller Family Foundation and Classics for Kids Foundation.
For more detailed information on these opportunities and others, interested parties are encouraged to review the full update online.
