Community mourns fallen Binghamton firefighter

The community is mourning the loss of firefighter John "JR" Gaudet from the Binghamton City Fire Department. His passing has left a significant impact on those who knew him and the broader region.

In a statement, it was expressed, “Just like everyone else in the region, I am devastated by the Line of Duty Death of John ‘JR’ Gaudet of the Binghamton City Fire Department. My deepest condolences are sent to his family, friends, and colleague firefighters."

Firefighter Gaudet was recognized for his bravery and dedication to protecting others, often risking his life for strangers. The statement further read, "John and his brother and sister firefighters willingly go into harm's way to protect others, who are almost always strangers. God, please bless Firefighter Gaudet and look after his family.”

Gaudet's legacy will be remembered by many as a testament to courage and selflessness.
