State Senator Tom O'Mara announced that the joint Senate-Assembly hearings on Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed 2025-2026 New York State budget will conclude on Thursday. The final discussions will focus on the governor's proposals for Taxes and Housing.

The hearings represent the end of a monthlong series reviewing the proposed budget. The hearing on Taxes is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the Housing hearing at 12:30 PM. Both sessions are available for live viewing and archived videos are accessible for later review.

These hearings provide a platform for members of the Legislature’s fiscal committees to hear from top officials in Governor Hochul's administration, state agency leaders, local representatives, and various stakeholders affected by the state's annual budget.

“Senate Republicans will continue to be a voice for lower taxes, less regulation, greater accountability, affordability, economic growth, job creation, and more common sense on state fiscal practices," stated O’Mara. He emphasized that these budget hearings are crucial for gathering direct input and critique across several policy areas impacting local communities and economies.

O'Mara represents New York's 58th Senate District which includes Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Yates counties and part of Allegany County.
