Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy announced that the City of Corning has been awarded $480,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for improvements to its wastewater treatment plant. This funding is part of the FY 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act.

"The City of Corning’s wastewater treatment plant has been in need of upgrades for some time," said Congressman Nick Langworthy. "I’m grateful to former Congressman Tom Reed for putting this request forward back in 2022 and I’m pleased the City will now have access to these funds. Working with our local officials to modernize and enhance critical public infrastructure will always be one of my top priorities."

The grant aims to modernize the city’s wastewater treatment facilities to comply with discharge regulations, enhance community resiliency, and promote sustainable practices. In fiscal year 2022, Congress allocated resources for 483 congressionally directed water infrastructure projects through EPA Community Grants, totaling $841 million under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022.

Congressman Nick Langworthy represents New York's 23rd Congressional District, which includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, and Tioga Counties, as well as parts of Erie, Niagara, Steuben, and Schuyler Counties.
