Assemblyman Phil Palmesano has released the "March Grant Action News Update," aimed at informing residents, organizations, and local governments about available grants from state, federal, and private sources. This monthly bulletin compiles a list of grants across various categories to assist communities in accessing financial support.

Palmesano emphasized the importance of these grants during economic recovery: “During a time of economic recovery, grants can play an integral part in helping our local communities complete needed infrastructure repairs or support underfunded projects,” he stated. He added that many are unaware of these opportunities due to lack of information, but the bulletin aims to simplify the process by consolidating grant details for easy access.

Not-for-profit applicants must pre-qualify on the NYS Grants Reform website before applying for certain New York state grant solicitations. The registration and prequalification process is extensive, so potential applicants are encouraged to start early.

The Grant Action News bulletin is updated monthly with new grant opportunities and application instructions. The latest update can be accessed online.

Among the highlighted state grants is funding from the NYS Office of Mental Health for Home Based Crisis Intervention teams targeting youth with intellectual disabilities. Eligible not-for-profits have until March 13 to apply for a share of $3.6 million available funds.

The NYS Office of Victim Services offers $379.5 million through its Victims Assistance Grant Program for entities providing services to crime victims. Applications are due by March 19.

The NYS Office Addiction Services & Supports has allocated $31.9 million for street outreach programs addressing harm reduction education and support services for drug users, with applications closing on April 1.

Other notable opportunities include federal grants such as those from the US Department of Health and Human Services' Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects Program and private grants like those from the New York Life Foundation supporting out-of-school time programs for middle school youth.

Assemblyman Palmesano represents New York's 132nd District covering Schuyler County, Yates County, and parts of Chemung County, Seneca County, and Steuben County.
