Albany, N.Y., April 17--State Senator Tom O'Mara, Ranking Member on the Senate Finance Committee, expressed strong criticism towards Governor Kathy Hochul and the Legislature's Democratic leadership for the delay in enacting a new state budget. During a news conference at the State Capitol today, O'Mara, alongside Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt and other members of the Senate Republican Conference, voiced his frustration over the ongoing budget impasse.

"I wish we had more to report on the status of the budget, but we're still in the dark here in Planet Albany," remarked O'Mara, highlighting the 17-day delay in finalizing the new state fiscal plan. He emphasized the lack of transparency around a budget that is anticipated to escalate spending by at least $8 billion. O'Mara underscored the gravity of the situation, stating, "It's no way to be dealing with a $237-billion budget. It's frustrating for my constituents. They want answers."

The delay in passing the budget has left taxpayers and stakeholders in limbo, awaiting crucial information on the financial plan. O'Mara's remarks shed light on the growing concerns surrounding the budget impasse and the impact it is having on the public.

As the stalemate persists, O'Mara's call for accountability and urgency in resolving the budget standoff resonates with constituents eagerly anticipating clarity on the state's financial direction. The need for swift action to address the budget crisis remains paramount as the deadline for a resolution draws nearer.
