Rep. Marc Molinaro, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York's 19th district, has shared a series of tweets addressing issues related to FEMA and a recent plane crash in Windham. Molinaro, who succeeded Pat Ryan in 2023, has been active on social media discussing these matters.
On November 24, 2024, Rep. Molinaro expressed concerns about FEMA's operations. He stated that "FEMA has been contaminated by the bureaucratic state and doesn't take seriously the responsibility of responding to all Americans." He supported former President Donald Trump's right to overhaul FEMA with new leadership aimed at refocusing on its core mission for greater effectiveness and efficiency.
The following day, November 25, 2024, he reported on a plane crash incident involving a flight from Maryland to Albany. The aircraft crashed in a remote area of Windham with "a pilot and 3 dogs on board." Responders included NYS Forest Rangers, Greene County EMS, Sheriff's office, local fire departments, civil air patrol, and FAA officials.
Later that day, Molinaro conveyed tragic news regarding the crash outcome. He announced that "the pilot and two of three dogs did not survive the plane crash." He extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased while thanking local and state officials for their prompt response.
