Owego Free Academy had the highest enrollment among Tioga County schools, welcoming 609 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 93.4% of the Owego Free Academy's total enrollment.

Among the 20 schools in Tioga County, Owego Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 487 students, while Waverly Middle School welcomed 463 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Owego Free Academy is part of Owego-Apalachin Central School District, which roughly covers two schools within Tioga County and has a main office in Candor.

In the previous school year, Owego Free Academy also had the highest number of students among Tioga County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
