Guthrie has awarded a $3,000 grant to United Methodist Homes Hilltop Campus. This funding will support the installation of a blood pressure machine kiosk at the assisted living facility. The kiosk aims to help residents monitor their blood pressure regularly.
United Methodist Homes is a nonprofit organization founded in 1958. It serves seniors in the Greater Binghamton region of New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The organization operates campuses at Hilltop, Highlands, and Elizabeth Church, offering various senior living options focused on health and community.
The new blood pressure machine is expected to enhance resident well-being and promote awareness of weight management. It may also help prevent potential health crises by enabling early detection of health issues.
The grant comes from Guthrie’s Community Benefit Grant Program, which supports projects based on Guthrie’s Community Health Needs Assessment. Recent assessments identified mental health, substance use disorders, obesity, and cancer screening as key areas of need.
