BROOME COUNTY: Investigating Defacing Of County Property

Government

Broome County issued the following announcement on July 27.

On Sunday, Broome County officials learned of an incident involving the defacing of County property, including the Courthouse and Columbus statue, in downtown Binghamton. The Broome County Security Division is investigating the incident.

“Let me be perfectly clear. Lawlessness will not be tolerated in Broome County and we will work to find the person who did this and bring them to justice,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. “On behalf of Broome County, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Servpro for quickly arriving on the scene and cleaning the affected areas. We appreciate their swiftness and their service.”

The Broome County Security Division has released a photograph of the person of interest and is asking people with information regarding their identity to please contact the Broome County Security Case Integrity Unit at 607-778-2519.
