Chemung County Executive, Christopher J. Moss, has affirmed the county's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of its residents during the upcoming April 8th, 2024, Solar Eclipse. In light of this commitment, an ad-hoc committee has been formed comprising representatives from various essential departments.

The committee, which includes members from the Sheriff's Office, 911, Civil Defense, Emergency Management, Central Services, Fire Management, and Public Information, has been diligently working to prepare for the potential impacts expected as hundreds of thousands of individuals are projected to drive through Chemung County to witness the celestial event.

To provide residents with valuable information and guidance, ChemungCountyNY.gov/eclipse has been established. This webpage serves as a resource hub offering advice on safety concerns, details about viewing parties, and general information about the solar eclipse. Moss encourages residents to visit the website for updates and essential information leading up to the Solar Eclipse on April 8th, 2024.

Chemung County's proactive approach and comprehensive preparations underscore their commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all residents and visitors during this significant celestial event.
