Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care will host its Annual Public Hearing on April 25th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Meals on Wheels Chemung County Event Center in Elmira, NY. The event will focus on the Chemung County Area Plan on Aging, funded under the Older Americans Act of 1965.

During the Public Hearing, attendees can expect a detailed elder law presentation by the Department of Aging Contract Attorney, John Maloney. Additionally, Sheila Brewer-Montero will provide insights into scams targeting older adults.

The gathering aims to facilitate resident feedback, idea sharing, and addressing concerns related to the needs and services of older adults and individuals requiring long-term care services and support for their families and caregivers. Beth Stranges, Director of the Chemung County Dept. of Aging and Long Term Care, emphasized the importance of understanding New York State Elder Law and protecting against scams.

To gather crucial information for the completion of the next Chemung County Department of Aging & Long Term Care’s Four-Year Plan, a Community Needs Assessment Survey will be available both in person on the day of the Public Hearing and online by April 25th.

Christopher J. Moss, Chemung County Executive, urged interested individuals to call (607) 737-5520 by May 1st to register for the event or request special accommodations. The Public Hearing will also feature Chemung County Department of Aging and NY Connects staff, along with community partners, sharing information on available services and supports.

The event promises to be an informative and interactive session, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with experts in the field and contribute to shaping future plans for aging and long-term care services in Chemung County.
