Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) recently revealed a substantial grant for Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Steuben County. The grant, amounting to $5,190,112, was secured for programs facilitated by Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc., based in Bath, NY.
Langworthy emphasized the importance of such programs, stating, “Head Start and Early Head Start programs give children from low-income families the critical early education and developmental support they need to thrive in school.” He further expressed his enthusiasm for the investment, highlighting its potential impact on the county's future generations. Langworthy added, “Investing in our youngest learners not only sets them up for success in school and beyond but also strengthens our communities and economy in the long run.”
The initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, aims to support children's growth from birth to age 5 through services focused on early learning and development, health, and family well-being. Notably, Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation as a crucial element for ensuring positive child outcomes.
