Congressman Nick Langworthy has announced a federal grant of $100,000 awarded to Chemung Schuyler Steuben Workforce New York. The funding, provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), is intended for the "Expanding Workforce Participation" project, which aims to tackle the shortage of healthcare workers in the Southern Tier.
Langworthy emphasized the importance of investing in healthcare workforce development. He stated, "Investing in our healthcare workforce is essential to filling current talent gaps, as well as the long-term well-being of our region." He added that this funding would help CSS Workforce New York enhance its recruitment and training efforts for healthcare professionals, ensuring local hospitals and clinics have skilled personnel.
Phyllis Balliett, Executive Director of Chemung Schuyler Steuben Workforce New York, highlighted the significance of this grant. She said, "This grant will be instrumental in expanding our workforce training program, which provides critical training and job placement opportunities for individuals looking to enter the healthcare field." Balliett expressed gratitude towards Congressman Langworthy for his support and advocacy in securing this funding.
The ARC's Pathways to Employment program is expected to increase the number of skilled workers entering the healthcare sector. This initiative not only addresses immediate workforce needs but also supports economic growth and improves residents' quality of life in the region.
In addition to ARC's contribution, local sources will provide an extra $100,017, making the total project funding $200,017.
