Congressman Nick Langworthy has announced a federal grant of $1,999,999 for the Ripley Interstate Shovel Ready Site (RISRS) project in Chautauqua County. The funding is expected to stimulate $60 million in private investment and create 320 new jobs.

“The Ripley Shovel Ready Site will bring good-paying jobs, attract new businesses, and provide the economic boost Chautauqua County needs,” stated Congressman Langworthy. He emphasized the importance of bringing federal tax dollars back to his community for meaningful projects.

Paul M. Wendel Jr., Chautauqua County Executive, highlighted the significance of this funding: "Securing this funding represents a significant advancement for the Ripley shovel-ready site, a key project that promises to drive economic growth and prosperity here in Chautauqua County." He expressed gratitude towards Congressman Langworthy and Mark Geise for their efforts in advancing this initiative.

The RISRS project aims to develop infrastructure such as roads, water, sewer, gas, and communication lines on a 147-acre site. This development is intended to cater to manufacturing, transportation, and warehousing sectors' demand for ready-to-develop spaces.

Funding comes from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization Initiative. This initiative supports economic diversification projects in Appalachian areas impacted by coal industry job losses.
