Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy announced that Chautauqua County will receive $1.3 million in federal funding to support the Chautauqua Comprehensive Addiction Response and Evaluation (CARES) program. The funding comes from the Office of Justice Programs and is intended to address the substance use crisis affecting families and communities across the region.
Congressman Langworthy stated, "The CARES program is a critical public health initiative for Chautauqua County, bringing together law enforcement, behavioral health, and community organizations to provide critical support for individuals battling addiction." He added, "This investment will save lives and foster a safer, healthier community. I am proud to advocate for federal resources that make a difference in the lives of my constituents."
The CARES program aims to create a countywide network that increases access to timely and effective treatment for individuals with substance use disorders. By addressing addiction collaboratively, it seeks to connect more residents with recovery resources and reduce the strain on the criminal justice system.
