Chemung County has announced the initial public meeting for Elmira's Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP). Scheduled for October 21, the meeting will take place from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Clemens Center Upper Lobby in Elmira, New York.
The LWRP planning process is supported by funding from the Department of State. It aims to identify projects, programs, and policies that benefit municipal waterfronts. Once identified, municipalities can access funding to implement capital projects outlined in the LWRP plan. The City of Elmira expects to finalize and adopt its plan by late 2025.
Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting to gain insight into the LWRP program, understand Elmira's waterfront boundary, review completed inventory of waterfront conditions, and share their vision for Elmira’s waterfront development. Chemung County Executive Christopher J. Moss expressed anticipation in collaborating with the City on developing its LWRP and urged citizens to participate in public meetings.
