Chemung County schedules public hearing on property tax cap override

A public hearing is scheduled to take place in Chemung County concerning a proposed local law aimed at overriding the property tax cap levy limit for the 2025 budget. The legislation, known as Introductory Local Law No. 4 for the Year 2024, was presented to the Chemung County Legislature on November 25, 2024.

The County Executive will conduct the public hearing on December 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Hazlett Building located at 203 Lake Street, Elmira, New York. This session will provide an opportunity for all interested parties and citizens to express their views.

A copy of this proposed local law is available for public inspection during regular business hours at the office of the Clerk of the Chemung County Legislature in the Hazlett Building.

Christopher Moss, Chemung County Executive, emphasized that "all persons and interests will be heard" during this hearing. The process follows guidelines set by General Municipal Law.
